Microsoft Live Writer – nifty

I just upgraded to the latest (beta) of Microsoft Live writer. It is a really nifty tool that allows you to write and post to your blogs (yes, more than one) with a WYSIWG user interface. Even better is that you can do all your typing while off line and upload when you have the connection back. Live Writer can publish to many of the most common blog machines including Windows Live, WordPress, Blogger, Live Journal and TypePad.

I have a slight reservation about the fact that the tool is a bit slow and you en up waiting for it to respond now and then.

The latest version claims to manage pictures in a better way…

Ah, while playing with these pictures it actually died on me. Well it is a beta after all. However before it died I was really impressed with what you can do. I “saved” my text by doing a screen shot of the frozen app so it was relatively painless to retype the text. This second time around I am making sure to do a File >> Save local draft, before playing with the pictures. Great feature by the way! Now I also notice that Tools >> Options allows you to set the time between automatic backup copies. I just changed from default 3 min to 1 min ;-)

Here are three pictures that I 1) added reflection, 2) tilted and 3) embossed. Didn’t expect these rich features in a blog poster!

You really have to play around with it!
